IELTS Reading Tips to Avoid Common Traps in 2025
Getting a high score in IELTS Reading isn’t about speed reading. It’s about strategy. Many students from Kochi and across Kerala struggle with tricky question types and similar-looking options. Here’s how to avoid the most common traps:
- Don’t Match Keywords Blindly: IELTS often paraphrases keywords. Focus on the idea, not the word.
- Watch for Negative Questions: Words like “NOT,” “EXCEPT,” or “FALSE” flip the meaning.
- Skimming and Scanning: Skim for the main idea, scan for details. This combo saves time.
- True/False/Not Given Confusion: If you can’t prove it from the passage, it’s probably “Not Given.”
- Time Management: Don’t spend more than 60 seconds per question.
- Eliminate Wrong Options: Narrow down choices logically. Cross out obviously wrong ones.
